100 REASONS TO LOVE YORKU (PART 2)

Hey Yorkers!

Hope everyone had a superb weekend with this lovely-ish weather (unstable but I can dig it). I really do hope your excited to come to York because this university is a really awesome place. Trust me, you’re going to love it. I seriously do love this campus with all my heart and have trouble containing myself while I’m here. I tend to ooze spirit because of it (Yeah I’m weird..). You’re here for the next four years of your life so… Make it count, get involved and be haaaappy! I  hope with these reasons, you can start to love York just as much as me!

11. Groundhog Patrol: If you never had the chance to see a groundhog with your own eyes, then you chose the right school! Our groundhogs are pretty well known here and they tend to strut around all over campus walk in the spring time (oh you fancy huh). 12. Age is just a number: None of our Varsity Teams on campus (with the exception of football) have an age limit. There are over 9000 mature students as well, making the campus diverse and awesome! This gives you the chance to have an even more meaningful experience here through befriending people of all ages and races (hence opening your mind)! 13. Smart Phone Addict: While your browsing your smart phone checking out York Videos (caught ya!) download our York U Safety App! 14.So you want to be a leader, eh? University is a time to expand your boundaries, meet new people, and learn new things. It’s time to be a leader! Build on your leadership skills through the two complimentary leadership building programs offered at YUlead. Oh, and you get a fancy certificate (plus awesome food) at the mini-graduation ceremony! 15. Intramurals!!: If you never heard of intramurals before I wouldn’t blame ya! That’s because the word does NOT exist outside of York! Chyeah we create our own words (problem??). Our Intramurals is a chance  to get physical with your fellow college peers while having lots of fun! You can compete against other colleges (think of Slytherin versus Gryffindor type thing). It is also one of the best Intramual  programs in Canada (not a surprise given our huge population)! if your not into that whole competitive thing, no worries! We have two tiers available, tier one which is for those into competing and tier two: for those who are testing out the waters and just want to have fun. Read about it at: http://yorkulions.ca/

16. Get off the couch!: Are you tired of your mom yelling at you? Get off that couch and go to work! Don’t have a job? Have no fear because we have over 1000 jobs on campus. Most jobs are Work/Study meaning that the employer is working through your schedule! Bonus:  work/study positions also tend to get paid more! 17.Notebook’s #1 Fan: I know no one can resist the tear jerker “The Notebook”, don’t worry the Red Zone Student Ambassadors can’t either. Did you know that Rachel Mcadams is a York Alumni? How does it feel going to the same school as Regina George? (pretty awesome I know). 18. Sculpture Contemplation: Throughout your days at York you will probably notice the creative abstract looking statues and sculptures scattered around the campus, thinking “WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?” Get the answers through the statue and sculpture tours offered by York!! 19. Night Owl: Up all night and just feel like running at 3 AM in the morning? YOU CAME TO THE RIGHT CAMPUS! Mclaughlin College has it’s very own 24 hour gym (Dynamacs) for all you night owls out there. Get your nocturnal needs satisfied at: http://www.mclaughlincollege.com/dynamacs/

20. We Taking Over!: We have three York campuses! Our Keele Campus is York’s major campus with over 50,000 students, Our Glendon campus (which was actually the original York Campus) is bilingual and GOREEEGOUS (just sayin) and our third campus is a land away from home in Hyderabad India!
